Description
An antique Japanese Satsuma enamel pottery vase. The vase is made in a panel design. The panels are adorned with hand painted scenes. The exterior of the ware is adorned with polychrome hand enameled images of a battle scene in a mountain landscape, a courtyard scene with Geisha ladies, a crane and a bird in a floral pattern, surrounded by floral, foliage, geometrical motifs with gilt accents. Fine detail work. Marked with a Hadoda signature stamp, on the bottom. Circa: early 20th century. Satsuma ware is a type of Japanese pottery which originated in Satsuma Province, since the 19th century it was mainly produced for Western export and therefore elaborately decorated.
