Description
Eastern Europe, Imperial Russia, Caucasus region circa 1780-1890. Caucasian Shaska sword with horn handle, silver niello base to grip, blade single-edged with triple fuller and very early half-moon or crescent moon face mark from the Solingen master bladesmiths factory in addition to a several arrangements of triple Botonee Cross a staple of early Imperial Russian religion. The handle probably 19th century with the blade probably an early example in the late 18th century. Scabbard with nielloed silver mounts matching to grip of handle and remainder of saber.
