Description
A GEORGE II STYLE TWO-LIGHT GIRANDOLE MIRROR, POSSIBLY IRISH, 18TH/19TH CENTURY, giltwood and gesso having a broken arch crest centering a canopy of "Prince of Wales" feathers, within scrolling volutes with flower medallions, has hand hammered circular and rocky textured grounds with sunflower medallions, egg-and-dart trim, the crest centered by a double "C" scroll, with tendrils of leaves ending with two "S" curved foliate brass arms with compressed circular bobeches and turned candle cups. Height: 62" Width: 32" Depth: 9" Provenance: Private Estate, Houston, Texas.
Condition
With apparent repairs and restorations, re-gilt paint, small losses, later glass plate added, chips, and expected wear for age and materials.
