Item Details

Description

A 1920's Finnish silver import casket, the central body having scrolled and foliate border below lobed band, rising to hinged lid of conforming design with cherubs enclosing applied monogram to top. Stamped with mark for 830 standard, date letter for 1927 and Finnish import mark. Length 18cm, weight 18.5ozt (576.4g).

Condition Report:

Item shows general surfaces scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing.
Silver is quite dull to some areas.
Hinged lid is in good working order, but is not self supporting. Item appears to close securely, but hinged lid is actually suspended slightly from rim on closer inspection.
Cherub design to top shows some green discolouration and darker tarnishing.
Lobed band to right side show some bashes and compressions.
Hallmarks are clear and legible, but appear to be possibly overstruck on German hallmarks.
Condition reports are offered as a guide only and we highly recommend inspecting any lot to satisfy yourself as to its condition.
