BIOGRAPHY:
Wendy Presseisen about herself: "Once upon a time in a pleasant little town in rural upstate New York, a baby was born to an eccentric artist family. She was raised on artichokes, honey butter and cerulean blue paint and even before she could utter her very first words, she was carrying a paintbrush and donning a viridian beret. That baby was me.I have been painting for over 45 years now! People often ask me, 'Where do your ideas come from?', 'Where did you learn to paint?'. I've had no formal training, other than learning the mastery of the tools and medium by watching my family. While they succeeded in their academically 'correct' art careers, I veered off into the twilight zone pursuing a distinctive style all my own. My ideas come from out of the blue and the unplanned paintings paint themselves, literally taking form when brush meets canvas. Over the past twenty plus years, between raising three children and other enlightening adventures, I have produced a huge body of work. My paintings and prints have been proudly featured in many publications and catalogs including Country Living Magazine, Country Folk Art Magazine, The Museum of American Folk Art, House Beautiful, Womans Day, Family Circle, Ethan Allen,Country Curtains, and Country Manor to name a few, as well as in galleries and shops internationally. You will find my love of people and animals (especially cats) often show up in my work. While the majority of my more stylized and folky paintings are done in acrylics on wood and canvas, I have recently discovered the world of digital painting and am having a blast using paint shop pro on my computer to 'paint'. Check out my 'Digital Dog' series for my latest endeavors! If you have a dog (or cat) breed that you don't see in my collection and would like one - let me know."
