Original 1985 Nike Air Jordan 1 NBA Basketball Sneakers (Size 10) (Red-White Colorway). Designed by Peter Moore, Tinker Hatfield & Bruce Kilgore. Released in April 1985. Probably the most iconic piece of footwear in human history, these are the original Nike Air Jordan I's, the shoes that started it all. According to the consignor these were obtained from a Nike factory in South Korea in the mid 1980's (where the shoes were manufactured), they were given to him without laces or the original box. The Air Jordan I was released in 1984 sporting a red-black colorway which was immediately banned by the NBA. As a result Nike then created the red-white colorway (in 1985) which the NBA "allowed" however Jordan was to be fined $5,000 for every game that he wore them. The story goes that Nike then decided to pay the fines for Jordan which amounted to over $400k+ that season. Nike released the sneaker line with the modest goal of making $3 million in the first three years. In the first year alone the shoes generated over $126 million in revenue. Today the Air Jordan brand is widely recognized as the most successful shoe / sneaker line in the history of fashion. These shoes obviously have the expected wear that you would see on a sneaker that is nearly 40 years old.
