A neat souvenir of the 1936 Berlin Olympic Games, a metal-lined wooden ashtray stand with an intricately-carved Black Forest bear figure at left holding a (removable) brass spear. Brass plaque on front reads ‘Olympiade Berlin 1936’. The wooden base measures 6.5 in wide x 3 in. deep, while the bear is 6 in. tall itself. Ashtray is 3.25 in. diameter, composed of brass, with two oblong curved holders for cigarettes that are detached and in need of repair. One of the bear’s feet requires repair, but the missing piece is present. Otherwise very good condition. WITH: an original metal-encased wooden matchbook with enameled image of Cologne and original matches within. Measures 2 x 1.5 in. and in very good condition. Two pieces.
