Description
FRANZ FRIEDRICH BOEHM (1885-1947) German general, Commander of the XVIII Mountain Corps, Hitler's Plenipotentiary Commanding General in the Balkans, and commander-in-chief in German-occupied Norway. Bohme was arrested for trial in Nuremberg in the Hostages Trial on a charge of having massacred thousands of Serbian civilians. He committed suicide in prison. Fine collection of 20 issues of the British educational newspaper 'English For All...[published] Fortnightly for German P.O.W.]', all dated in 1946, each 8pp. 8vo. and most bearing Boehme's name at top, possibly in his hand. Boehme received these English readers while held prisoner at Island Farm Special Camp 11 at Bridgend in Wales. Four of the earliest issued are marked-up by the general, with text underlined, a few holograph notes, and even an attempt to complete the crossword puzzle. Very good.
