Description
(1914 - 1944) Waffen-SS Panzer ace, known for his actions during the Battle of Villers-Bocage in June 1944, in which his tank destroyed fourteen enemy tanks, fifteen personnel carriers, and two anti-tank guns within the span of fifteen minutes. Killed in action during Operation Totalize. Two words in his hand, clipped from a partly-printed document next to the printed words 'Vaters Mutter' ('Father's Mother'): 'Graf [illegible]'. This entry was in reference to the certification of his Aryan heritage. Mounted to a page with a black and white image of Wittmann wearing his Knights Cross with Oak Leaves and Swords. Very good condition.
