Frank Meisler (Israeli, 1929-2018) was an Israeli architect and sculptor. Born in Danzig Poland he grew up in England and moved to Israel in 1956.
Frank Meisler was evacuated by the Kindertransport in August 1939, travelling with 14 other Jewish children via Berlin to the Netherlands and then to London. His parents died in Auschwitz. Meisler served in the UK Royal Air Force, studied architecture at the University of Manchester, and was involved in the construction of the Heathrow Airport.
His public works include a memorial to Ben Gurion in Israel, Eternal Kiev in Kiev, and a series of Kindertransport memorials: at Liverpool Street station in London, at Friedrichstrasse station in Berlin, at Gdansk Glowny station, and at the Hook of Holland. Meisler designed the interior of the Moscow Holocaust Memorial Synagogue, and sculptures for Russian National War Memorial. A memorial of the death march of Jewish prisoners erected in Kaliningrad (Konigsberg). Meisler awarded the Franz Kafka gold medal by the Czech Academy of Art, and a cavalier of the Order of Merit First Class Officer Cross by Germany, in recognition of his services to German-Israeli relations. He was an honorary academician of the Russian and the Ukrainian Academies of Arts.
