1847 Voyage Round the World Taylor USS Columbia CHINA India Brazil Illustrated
Fitch Waterman Taylor was a 19th-century American minister and seaman. He was appointed a chaplain in the U.S. Navy in 1841, a position he maintained until his death in 1865. While in the Navy, he made a voyage around the world on the USS Columbia in 1838 and published the events of this voyage in “A Voyage Round the World”.
This work is filled with several wood-engravings and descriptions of ports of call in Brazil, Arabia, India, China, Siam, Hawaii, Tahiti, Chile and Peru. Features two frontispieces – Bombardment of Muckie and Emperor of China.
