Item Details
Description
This 19th-century petit point needlepoint embroidery, measuring 24.5 inches by 16.5 inches, is a captivating piece showcasing a maiden holding a lyre harp. The delicate artistry of needlepoint is on full display as the angelic figure is portrayed with intricate stitches, capturing the fine details of her features and the flowing drapery.

The central focus of the embroidery is the maiden, elegantly poised with a lyre harp in hand. The inclusion of a star above her head adds a celestial touch, emphasizing a sense of divine inspiration or heavenly connection. The choice of a lyre harp, an instrument often associated with classical mythology and angelic realms, enhances the ethereal and timeless quality of the scene.

Needlepoint, a form of counted thread embroidery, requires meticulous attention to detail and patience. In this artwork, the artist skillfully employs different stitching techniques to convey the texture of the maiden's clothing, the strings of the harp, and the subtle shading that enhances the overall depth of the composition.

As a representation of 19th-century needlepoint craftsmanship, this piece serves as both a testament to the artistic skill of the creator and a beautiful addition to any collection of textile art. The combination of classical symbolism and the artistry of needlepoint creates a harmonious blend of form and meaning, making it a timeless and elegant work of art.

For collectors appreciative of historical needlework and those drawn to the enchanting depiction of celestial themes, this petit point embroidery offers a glimpse into the artistic mastery and creativity of the 19th century.
