PERRIN JEAN BAPTISTE: (1870-1942) French physicist, Nobel Prize winner for Physics, 1926. A.L.S., Jean Perrin, one page, 8vo, Vienna, n.d. (10th November 1926), to Madame Boes (‘Chere Amie’), in French. Perrin seeks his friend’s forgiveness for not having replied to her letter and remarks ‘La melancolie que vous avez senti croyez que je l'ai depuis bien longtemps ressentit moi-meme. Il m'est tres precieux que nous puissions le parteger’ (Translation: ‘The melancholy that you felt, believe that I have felt it myself for a long time. It is very precious to me that we can share it’) and further refers to Budapest, Vienna and Prague. With blank integral leaf. Accompanied by the original envelope (curiously with two Swiss postage stamps affixed) hand addressed by Perrin. VG
