Description
Anastacio Villalobos P (Mexican, 20th to 21st century). Mata Ortiz pottery jar. Signed on underside of base with "P." An attractive pottery jar of the Mata Ortiz tradition by Mexican artist Anastacio Villalobos featuring lustrous and matte decoration in hues of black and red. The exterior of the vessel is intricately adorned in tightly-packed, stylized imagery of birds, vegetal motifs, and geometric designs. The vessel itself features a round yet stable base and impressively thin walls that slant inward to a narrow, annular mouth. Size: 5.6" W x 7.5" H (14.2 cm x 19 cm); 7.8" H (19.8 cm) on included custom stand.
