Demps, Rodney (1953- 2020) Florida Highwaymen Painting. Oil on Masonite- signed lower right and verso. Inducted into the Florida Artists Hall of Fame in 2004, Rodney Demps 'body of work is unlike that of any of the other Highwaymen artists. His early landscape paintings show a strong influence by Hair, infused with his own more painterly approach and an air of surrealism in their light and movement. Stratus clouds accentuate the blue sky. In the distance a Poinciana is in full bloom. Board measures 20x24 framed to overall size of 25x29. African American Highwaymen Folk Art, evolved from the Backus Indian River School Art Colony. Condition: Very Fine
