Description
A polychrome filigree enameled Soviet silver tea set made in 1954 at the Leningrad Jewelry Factory consisting of: 1) A glass holder, 4" high (with the handle) x 3 3/8" dia., weight 200 grams. 2) A cup, 3" high (with the handle) x 3 1/4" dia., weight 130 grams, 3) A saucer, 5 1/8" dia., weight 177.6 grams, 4) A small dessert fork, 3 5/8" long, weight 8.9 grams. 5) A sugar spoon, 3 5/8" long, weight 22.1 grams. 6) A pair of teaspoons, 5 5/8" long, weight 51.2 grams. 7) A tea strainer, 4 5/8" long, 2 5/8" dia., weight 45.7. 8) A pair of small plates, 3 3/8" dia., weight 112.1 grams. 9) A sugar bowl, 4" high (with the handle), 4 1/4" dia., weight 189.9 grams. All pieces are hallmarked with the Leningrad (St. Petersburg) Assay District Hallmark for 916 fineness silver and the maker's mark. Total weight 937.5 grams. Provenance: John Watkins Canadian Ambassador to Russia, to Canadian Diplomat H. Basil Robinson Family, Ottawa.
