Richard Joseph Anuszkiewicz, American, 1930 to 2020, limited edition, Coaster Tray, artwork set of nine removable porcelain enameled metal coasters with cork bottom arranged to resemble an Anuszkiewicz optical design painting. Completed with an original magazine, Art in America, January February 1971 with an article about this artwork. Initially offered to Art in America Readers. In a 1964 Life magazine feature they referred to Anuszkiewicz as the new wizard of Op. Frame of the serving tray has nine thumb size holes so tiles can easily be lifted to serve as coasters. Richard Joseph Anuszkiewicz was an American painter, printmaker, and sculptor.Richard Anuszkiewicz is known for Optical art illusion, collage, graphics. With a name synonymous with the Op Art movement, Richard Anuskiewicz first achieved international fame when he was included in a 1965 survey of Optical Art at the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
