the first, a Hand Box, 2006, bentwood with copper nailed "hand" joints; the second, Old Man of the Mountain Box, 2005, burlwood primary with copper nailed joint, accompanied by a news article featuring this work; both signed and dated to underside of lid.
The largest 7 3/4 x 12 x 8 3/4 in.
Harland Savage has been creating for Frye's Measure Mill for over 40 years. Instead of using the traditional "fingers" to joint the sides of an oval quaker style box, the artist replaces them with original designs, as seen here.

The Old Man of the Mountain Box depicts the profile of a rock formation and cultural icon in the state of New Hampshire that collapsed in 2003.
