La Tipo 116 (denominazione del progetto della casa di Arese) è stata una berlina sportiva prodotta dal 1977 al 1985 dall'Alfa Romeo presso lo stabilimento di Arese. Riprende il nome dall'antesignana e omonima Giulietta degli anni cinquanta. L'Alfa Romeo Giulietta rappresenta un modello molto importante per il marchio. A due anni dal debutto in società si conferma una vettura ?azzeccata? e particolarmente gradita dal pubblico.
Nata come un modello dalla cilindrata media (1.3 litri, per l'esattezza) la Giulietta prosegue un cammino di ampliamento della gamma verso motorizzazioni dalla cilindrata maggiore, confortata dalle richieste del mercato italiano: il 70% della clientela preferisce la variante spinta dall'unità di 1.6 litri. A due anni dal debutto in società la Giulietta amplia la propria gamma con la versione 1.8: esteticamente è pressoché identica ai modelli già in commercio ma dentro al cofano c'è un 1.8 litri da 122 cv, che la rende una delle berline più potenti nella sua classe.
La sua principale peculiarità, quindi, è la trasmissione transaxle, con motore all'avantreno e cambio al retrotreno. Il propulsore, nel dettaglio, è il 1779 cc già montato sulle Alfetta e dalla potenza leggermente incrementata. Al suo fianco, la trazione posteriore e un cambio manuale a cinque rapporti. Ne sono state prodotte 3 serie prima di uscire di listino nel 1985, rimpiazzata dalla Alfa 75.
Lo stupendo esemplare che vi proponiamo prima dell'attuale collezionista, ha avuto un unico proprietario, che l'ha custodita gelosamente. La 1800 era la versione di punta della seconda serie, alla quale questo esemplare appartiene, e fu comunque dotata fin dall'origine di numerosi optional che la rendono molto comodamente utilizzabile ancora oggi. Sono infatti presenti l'aria condizionata, la chiusura centralizzata, le tendine posteriori avvolgibili ?Filtravedo?, le cinture di sicurezza e il bracciolo sul divanetto posteriore, edi tergifari. La vettura è stata conservata, sollevata da terra e rivestita da una morbida coperta di lana, in un box riscaldato dal 2002 al 2020, quando fu scoperta e acquistata dall'attuale proprietario collezionista, che l'ha riportata in strada.
La carrozzeria è stata verniciata molti anni fa e ancora in ottimo stato, essente da corrosione, e anche gli interni originali conservati in buonissimo stato. Questa Giulietta negli ultimi tre anni è stata usata regolarmente per raduni e ha anche preso parte alla produzione di alcuni film.
E' dotata di doppie chiavi, libretto uso e manutenzione, libretto di circolazione e foglio complementare originali, dotazione di bordo completa addirittura delle catene da neve dell'epoca (mai usate). Particolare è la presenza degli adesivi della verniciatura originale della carrozzeria, della concessionaria Alfa Romeo dove fu acquistata/manutenuta, e di quelli delle prove dei fumi di scarico che si usava fare all'inizio degli anni 2000. è presente anche il fascicolo di luglio 1981 della rivista Quattroruote, che pubblica la prova tecnica della vettura, e sulla cui base venne scelta e acquistata.

The Tipo 116 (design name of the Arese company) was a sports saloon produced from 1977 to 1985 by Alfa Romeo at the Arese plant. It took its name from the forerunner and namesake Giulietta of the 1950s. The Alfa Romeo Giulietta is a very important model for the brand. Two years after its debut, it confirmed itself as a 'well-received' car that was particularly popular with the public.

Born as a model with a medium engine capacity (1.3 litres, to be exact), the Giulietta continues on a path of expansion of the range towards larger engines, supported by the demands of the Italian market: 70% of customers prefer the variant powered by the 1.6-litre unit. Two years after its debut in the company, the Giulietta extends its range with the 1.8 version: aesthetically it is almost identical to the models already on the market, but inside the bonnet there is a 122 hp 1.8-litre, making it one of the most powerful saloons in its class.
Its main feature, therefore, is the transaxle transmission, with the engine at the front and the gearbox at the rear. The engine, in detail, is the 1779 cc already mounted on the Alfetta and with slightly increased power. Alongside it was rear-wheel drive and a five-speed manual gearbox. Three series were produced before it was discontinued in 1985, replaced by the Alfa 75.

The stunning example we offer, before the current collector, had only one owner, who jealously guarded it. The 1800 was the top version of the second series, to which this model belongs, and was equipped from the outset with numerous optional extras that make it very comfortable to use even today. In fact, there is air conditioning, central locking, 'Filtravedo' retractable rear curtains, seat belts and armrest on the rear bench, and headlamp wipers. The car was stored, lifted off the ground and covered with a soft wool blanket, in a heated box from 2002 to 2020, when it was discovered and purchased by the current collector owner, who brought it back to the road.
The bodywork was painted many years ago and is still in excellent condition, free of corrosion, and the original interior is also in very good condition. This Giulietta has been used regularly for rallies over the past three years and has also taken part in the production of some films.
It is equipped with double keys, original owner's handbook, registration book and complementary sheet, complete on-board equipment even snow chains of the time (never used). The stickers of the original bodywork paintwork, of the Alfa Romeo dealership where it was bought/maintained, and those of the exhaust fumes tests that were customary in the early 2000s, are also present. There is also the July 1981 issue of Quattroruote magazine, which published the technical test of the car, and on the basis of which it was chosen and purchased.
