Two historic bronze-cut and copper weathervanes, 28 x 27" each.
These weathervanes are from the historic Jacobs Hill Farm in Seekonk, Massachusetts. The original house dates to 1723. The land was part of a larger parcel purchased from the Wampanoag Indians in 1623 as part of the Plymouth Pilgrim expansion.
The property was subsequently used as an exclusive hunting club; membership included many names associated with the Gilded Age (Vanderbilt, Aldrich, and Firestone).
These weathervanes are well documented and a part of Jacobs Hill and American history. They have been in the same Massachusetts family for two generations. Vallot Auctioneers is pleased to offer these important American weathervanes.
