Federal Mahogany Lolling Chair,
probably Boston, Massachusetts, c. 1805.
Tall rectilinear back with serpentine crest flanked by shaped arms continuing into molded incurvate supports, the broad trapezoidal seat raised on slightly raking rear legs and tapered ring-turned and reeded front legs, later upholstery (loss of height to rear legs, which are now on casters), 71cm wide, 76cm deep, 114cm high (28 12in wide, 30in deep, 45in high).
