The elongated knotted band added to the kilim at the lower end of the field proves that this very fine Esfahan is from the "Seirafian" master workshop. On the right-hand side of the white cartouche with a calligraphic inscription, the master’s name is included in the Iranian flag in Latin script. Conceived in mirror image both vertically and horizontally, the elegant field design consists of large spiralling vines and arabesques as well as a wealth of diverse blossoms arranged around a small, red-ground cruciform central medallion. Vines, palmettes and floral stems fill the red main border.
