Description
Handled pewter tankard. [Birmingham, England]: James Yates (active 1837-1891). Marked near lip with pewter marks and "James. Yates / Pint."
Typed tag reads, in part: "Antique pewter PINT TAVERN TANKARD. Waisted b? on moulded base. [Made] by James Yates, a descendant of the famous Buncombe family of old pewterers. Excised George the 4th. Crowned "X" quality mark inside on bottom. Made in England, c.1825." Note, the item is more likely mid-19th century.
