8x10 B&W glossy finish vintage photograph signed "To Jim Wiggins with warm regards Peter Mennin 3/7/61" in black fountain pen ink. In very good condition. (1923-1983) Peter Mennin was a prominent American composer, teacher, and administrator. In 1958, he was named Director of the Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore, and in 1962 became President of the Juilliard School, a position he held until his death in 1983. Under his leadership, Juilliard moved from Claremont Avenue to its present location at Lincoln Center. Mennin is responsible for the addition of drama and dance departments at Juilliard. He also started the Master Class Program and brought many artists to teach including Maria Callas, Pierre Fournier, and others.This lot came from the Jim Wiggins collection we purchased in July 2022. Jim Wiggins accumulated the most unique and valuable autograph collection over a period of 70-plus years. He obtained his collection either in person or by writing to persons of fame and notoriety. Comes with a full Letter of Authenticity from Todd Mueller Authentics.
