Description
This lot contains two paintings of our beloved canine companions. The watercolor on paper dog portrait by artist Cleverly is matted and 8" x 10". An oil on canvas work of two hunting dogs by the artist C. Stern is a 19th century work. It is 8" x 11" & comes framed. We love our dogs and artists have been painting our companions of unconditional love since the Egyptians. There are two paintings by two different artists in this lot of faithful dogs, A 19th century depiction of two hounds on duty in the farm field (maybe Austrailian sheep dogs) and one very domesticated King Charles Cavalier happily sitting pretty for the next treat. Over the centuries dogs have evolved their role in the household. They have helped hunters find food, they served as entertainment, and they provided emotional support. They also served as artist's models used as symbols of fidelity, faithfulness, protection, wealth, and unconditional love.
