late 18th century, manner of John Linnell, surmounted by a lobed urn with sprigs of foliage and draped with bellflower swags, floral brackets, beveled mirror plate, acanthine pendant, 51 x 25 in.
Provenance: The Goddard Family, Providence, Rhode Island; Sotheby's, New York, January 22, 2005, sale 8055, lot 831, purchased for $11,800; Private Collection
Condition
structurally sound, beveled mirror plate is antique and likely a replacement (not removed for examination), likely later backing with recent taped reinforcement, back with later hardware, scattered small repairs and carving reattachments, scattered losses to gilding and gesso, one foliate sprig with minor losses to gesso, other wear as expected with age and use
