The Life and Services of Captain Philip Beaver, late of His Majesty's Ship Nisus. London: John Murray, 1829. Publisher's green cloth retaining the original spine label. 8 3/4 x 5 3/8 inches (22.5 x 13.75 cm); xvi, 340 pp. Light wear, minor wear, soiling, a sound copy retaining the paper label (some rubbing to label, small losses).
Captain Beaver was involved in the colonization of Bulama (in Guinea Bissau). He was appointed to the Nisus in 1809 and sailed in her to the East Indies, Mozambique and Madagascar, returning to England in 1813, dying on the return voyage. The book is uncommon in sound condition in the original cloth, as here.
