A partly printed document on paper with wafer seal, signed "James Bowdoin" in the left margin, countersigned by John Avery as Secretary, the document appointing Jonathan Felt of Wentham to be Coronor to Suffolk County. Framed with a portrait. Spotting and stray stains.
James Bowdoin (1726-1790) was the second Governor of the state of Massachusetts from 1785-87. He is the namesake of Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine.
