1) perfume container with five small pendants, silver, cast, engraved, d: 4.8 cm; l: 11.5 cm; w: 51 g
Perfume containers were usually part of a fibula chain or pectoral.
2) central part of a "godba" necklace, cast silver, m: 6 cm x 5.2 cm; w: 24 g
The classic "godba" necklace, which fit tightly around the neck, was threaded with coral and/or glass beads and was complemented by numerous small pendants. It is documented on many old picture postcards around 1900, but is nowadays no longer to be found complete and in its original state.
3) cylindrical amulet "hirz" with five small pendants, silver, m: 5.7 cm x 11 cm; w: 45 g
Small cylindrical amulets are encountered throughout North Africa and the Arabian Peninsula. The cylinder was often filled with "Koranic verses" on small slips of paper.
4) necklace with silver beads and nine horseshoe pendants "salhat", silver, cast, engraved, m: 8 cm x 4.3 cm (largest pendant); l: 39 cm (total); w: 109 g
Horseshoe pendants "salhat" are found in Tunisia as well as in Libya, and in Egypt, Western Dessert, Siwa Oasis.
5) amulet, Tunisia or Libya, silver, cast and engraved, d: 6.2 cm; w: 28 g
Round amulets in different sizes were usually used as head ornaments.
6) polychrome enamelled "khamsa", silver, small silver beads, on chain, m: 15 cm x 7,7 cm; w: 68 g
The relatively large "khamsa" with its polychrome enamelling and small pendants is a typical work from the island of Djerba. Very rare !
Comes with: seven small "khamsa" pendants from Tunisia, as well as two horseshoe pendants "salhat" from Tunisia and Egypt, Siwa Oasis.
