This adorable pair of table lamps by Carl Fagerlund for Orrefors features jewel-like bottle bases in ruby cased glass, with patinated brass socket mounts and cream linen shades. Both are signed with hand-etched "Orrefors" marks underneath, as well as original foil labels and metal tags on sockets. Model No. RD 1595. NOTE: Dimensions provided include the lamp and shade. There's a reason Carl Fagerlund's work has remained amongst the most beloved and sought-after in Scandinavian lighting for over 50 years: no other designer of the period possessed such masterful understanding of the elements of light and glass - an understanding which allowed Fagerlund to create functional works of art that illuminated an ambient mood, not just a room. During his partnership with the legendary Swedish glassworks Orrefors, Fagerlund produced a prolific body of work. Some of his most sought-after table lamp designs are his jewel-like cased glass pieces, which draw inspiration from the Murano "sommerso" technique - wherein colored glass is submerged inside clear glass to create a layered piece with geode-like cross sections.
