Description
The holiday season is around the corner and there is nothing more precious than artists' Christmas cards from the past. A favorite promotional tool for many artists of this era was to make individual holiday cards. This lot contains two Christmas greetings by New England artists. The first work is a woodcut by noted Rockport & Providence artist Antonio Cirino. Cirino’s charming woodcut is an image from his Rockport cottage in winter. It is 7" x 5" & unframed. Loraine Carghill painted the altar of the First Baptist Church of America in Providence, RI. It isn done in pink, ink and watercolor & measures 7" x 5". It is beautifully framed & matted as well. Frame size: 14" x 11". Both works demonstrate the individuality & creativity of professional artists when it comes to hand created cards for Christmas versus store bought commercial holiday cards.
