Antique French Morbier Clock

last quarter of the 19th century, gilt brass face and pendulum with grapevine and harvest motifs, 8-inch round enamel dial signed Le metayer fils / Ã Briouze, brass works with anchor escapement and going coil chime, pendulum with partial maker or retailer label AG label to verso, includes two elliptical weights, winding key, and later wood bracket wall mount.
Pendulum 41 1/2 x 12 in.; works and face 17 x 13 x 7.25 in.
Also known as Comtoise clocks (many were made in the French region Franche-ComtÃ©) and "prayer repeat" clocks, ringing on the hour and then two minutes later, the first chime is a call to prayer, and the second signals time to begin prayer.
