Description
Three early to mid 19th century samplers, all in silk, linen and/or cotton on linen grounds, the first dated 1817 by Mary Ann Callow, having several registers of alphabet and numbers above a verse, terminating to baskets of fruit and a meandering floral garland border; the second a sample by Elizabeth Cook dated 1842, with a line of letters and numbers above a verse and a field with tulips, baskets of fruit, birds, and bunnies, having a meandering strawberry vine boarder; and the third, a sampler by Maria Elizabeth Linez at age 6 in 1844, with multiple registers of alphabets and numbers above trees, flowers, and a peacock, all framed and under glass.
