Item Details

Description

Assembled American mixed wood Federal Sheraton rope bed, 19th century, having a curved mahogany headboard and footboard, and turned tiger maple posts and side rails, with numeric marks to the rails and paper label to one post.

Note: Oral history of this bed places it in the Nantucket Sound home of JFK.

Approximate dimensions: h. 74", w. 55.5", d. 82"; interior w. 48", d. 74.5".

Condition

Bed has been adapted to take a modern mattress with the pegs cut flush on the side rails, later headboard and footboard, cracks to headboard with wooden braces, frame is loose.
