Pencil on paper showing a seated figure titled: Study for the Portrait of Eugenia Primavesi. Provenance: National Gallery documentation for when the item was on loan for a Klimt exhibition, 2001 (see photographed documents). National Gallery label verso. Note: The sitter (Eugenia Primavesi) was a personal friend of Klimt, this sketch was a study in preparation for the oil Klimt was commissioned to paint for the Primavesi family. The family also commissioned Klimt to paint Mada, Eugenia's daughter (consignor's great aunt). Sotheby's years later auctioned the paintings, the sketch was kept as a keepsake until now.Ottawa Citizen newspaper article regarding the above mentioned Klimt show available upon request. Rare offering.
