KPM Berlin porcelain plaque depicting Gretchen at the spinning wheel after the painting by Alexander von Liezen-Mayer (Hungarian-born, German, 1839 - 1898).
Impressed KPM scepter mark.
Footnote: Alexander von Liezen-Mayer, portrait and history painter, studied at the academies in Vienna and Munich. Pupil of Eugen von Blaas. From 1862 worked in the studio of Carl Theodor von Piloty. 1884-1898 professor at the Munich Academy.
12 1/2 x 10 in., (32 x 25 cm.)
Condition
The plaque is in good condition overall. Insignificant paint loss to the right side. One minor scratch to the low left corner and a few more closer to the middle.
