The group includes four architectural depictions of castles, building line streets, and a grand canal. Arms originally studied law at Princeton before transferring to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology to study architecture. After World War I, he devoted himself to etching where he often depicted architectural building in the US, as well as Gothic churches in France and Italy alongside Medieval scenes. Arms served as president of the American Society of Graphic Artists and was an elected member of the National Academy of Design.
