Joseph Woodson "Pops" Whitesell (American/New Orleans, 1876-1958), "So What?!," ca. 1943, vintage silver gelatin print, signed and titled in lower lower right and left margins, respectively, "Casel Gallery, New Orleans" label on frame backing, presented in a wood frame, H.- 13 1/4 in., W.- 16 1/2 in., Framed- H.- 25 in., W.- 21 in. Provenance: Property from a Gentleman Antiquarian and Dealer, Mandeville, Louisiana.
Condition
Condition is consistent with age. Silver mirroring is present, most notably in the top quarter of the image, but can also be seen along the edges and in the darker areas, such as near the woman's feet in the doorway. A minor crease is visible in the upper left corner and there are small instances of abrasions in the upper right region.
