A LARGE GILT-DECORATED BLUE AND WHITE FISHBOWL
18th Century
The compressed globular body rising from a short spreading foot to an everted rim, painted in underglaze blue around the exterior with a continuous array of flowers emerging from below the shoulders, the interior painted with fish swimming among swaying pond weed.

Condition
There is wear and scratching across the surface of the vessel including the the gilding and blue enamelled details to the interior of the fish bowl. The two handles are missing off the exterior of the bowl, each patch about 10cm across. There is fritting and chipping around the outer rim of the vessel and also to the raised bands at various points over the body. There is a hairline running up from the foot to just below the keyscroll band.
