Egyptian Steatite Amulet of the White Crown of Upper Egypt, c. 900 B.C.
Conical-shaped black steatite amulet of the "White Crown" also called the crown of upper Egypt. A loop at the back for suspension.
Amulets of crowns were symbols of power and were thought to embody the protective goddesses of royalty. Since the crown was worn only by the king and certain deities, the amulet was believed to imbue the owner with the same aura of power and authority.
