Hand painted copy of an illuminated antiphonal leaf in watercolor and gilt on parchment paper, in handsome antique frame. A note on back of frame reads: "The Beaupre Antiphonal / fol. 3v A. Antiphon for Easter Sunday. / Manuscript written in 1290 for the Church of Saint Mary, Beaupre. This is the Cistercian Nunnery of Beaupre near Grammont in Belgium. Two donors on this page are identified by inscriptions, Domicella de Viane and Domicella Clementia and the Viane family is recorded as having been a benefactor of this particular Abbey. / Three volumes survive out of a set of six choir books containing the words and music of the sung parts of the Mass. The other three volumes were burnt in a fire at Sotheby's in 1863." Frame, approx. 18 1/4" x 15" x 2". Sight, approx. 13 1/2" x 10 1/2".
