Early leather fire helmet from Long Island City Exempt Firemen's Association. This is an early exempt association from New York City. The leather helmet was made by Dentzeau in New York. It has 16 combs and is a parade-weight helmet. The original owners' initials are on the bottom of the front shield J. McL. The helmet was repainted at some point with some minor repairs. It is missing the "i" in City on the front shield. A fine early leather New York City volunteer helmet.
