Hamilton Watch Co., Lancaster, Penn., a grade 931 pocket watch, 18 size, 16 jewels, damascened nickel plate movement with lever escapement, cut bimetallic balance, and Goldthwait micrometric regulator, in an engraved, coin silver box hinge hunting case, roman numeral, outer red 5-minute markers, single sunk white enamel dial with blued steel spade hands, serial #39966, with later box
Condition
CASE: Case has housed another movement; Two minor repaired dents, back; Scattered dings and pin pricks; Localized case knife marks; Very fine scratches on outer surface of case; Very fine scratches on cuvette; Acrylic crystal; Engraving with moderate wear; One hinge plug absent; Crown with wear; Precious metal content marked. DIAL: A few very fine scratches; Faint hairlines, 3:30, 5:00. HANDS: Good. MOVEMENT PLATES: Very fine scratches on plate; More significant scratches at case screws; Minor, localized marring to outer edge of barrel bridge; Regulator assembly with a few specks of oxide; Very dirty. MOVEMENT FUNCTION: Running order (winds, sets and ticks); Needs service. Box finish with craquelure; top with two dents., circa 1900
