Description
American. 1935-1937. Lithographed tin. A rare 1930s Mickey Mouse lunch kit. This lunchbox was the first to feature officially 'licensed' cartoon characters and is said to have sparked the lunchbox craze. It is considered the 'holy grail' by many lunch box collectors. Disney Enterprises licensed Geuder, Paeschke, & Frey Company (Milwaukee, Wisconsin) to produce. Handles hold down to secure the cover. The wrap-around scene features Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Mickey's nephews, Clarabell Cow, Horace Horsecollar, Clara Cluck, Goofy, Pluto and Donald Duck. Marked, "Copyright Walt Disney Enterprises", lower edge. 6" x 8.5" x 5".
Condition
Wear to lid where handles rest. Surface wear and oxidation, most significant on top, right side edge. Retains pie/cake tray inside.
