Description
Ca. 3000 BC.A cylinder seal of white and fawn stone. Along the bottom is a row of: horned animal, fish, big bird and small bird, and above these is a pattern of lines including a rhomb. The design is rare, and the condition fair: the stone is rubbed, but the design is clear. Accompanied by a signed scholarly note by Professor Wilfrid George Lambert. Size: L:36mm / W:21.9mm ; 30.05g Provenance: Private London collection of an Ancient Art dealer; formerly in a central London family collections 1990s; Examined by Professor Wilfrid George Lambert FBA (1926-2011), historian, archaeologist, and specialist in Assyriology and Near Eastern archaeology, in the late 1980s and early 1990s.
