A Rare, Vernacular Carved Pine and Wrought Iron Apple Shovel and Pitchfork Weathervane
Midwestern States, 19th Century
Height 51 x width 58 inches.
This lot is located in Cincinnati.
The weathervane was found in Stanton, Michigan, in the same barn it was previously made for and mounted to. It is a strong expression of the work ethic of the Midwest, similar to that represented by Grant Wood's iconic painting, American Gothic.

Condition
Retains spherical finial, which was not included in our earlier photographs. Finial is in currently unstable condition and is held together with rubber bands.
