Large carved quartersawn oak box fitted with a Gorham sterling silver vanity, or grooming set. Box is dated 1902 on the back panel, and beautifully decorated with hand carved winged lions, griffin and dolphins. There is a single-letter monogram with the initial B carved within a keystone on the front panel. Gorham pattern is of blossoming spring snow crab-apple flowers. Marked on nail buffer with Gorham Lion, Anchor & G mark and Sterling, 3 & Star (1888 date mark). Includes working skeleton key. Provenance: From a Main-Line Philadelphia estate. 13" x 9.5" x 4.5".
