ARMORIAL OLD SHEFFIELD PLATE SERVING TRAY, rectangular form with rounded corners and gadroon rim, two handles with gadroon and acanthus leaf design, raised on four feet with shell decoration, center of well with engraved coat of arms of the Earl and Baron of Harrowby and Viscount Sandon, Dudley Ryder, the shield is quarterly of eight featuring combination Ryder and Terrick to the dexter or proper right and combination of Underhill and possibly Ryves/Rives to the sinister or proper left, including a note from Louis J. Miller that reads, "Tea Tray / George III Period / Sheffield......c. 1790". Unmarked. Late 18th/early 19th century. 2 3/4" HOA, 29 3/4" LOA, 23 1/2" x 18" OA rim.

Condition
Good to very good overall condition with some wear, surface scratches, and nicks, denting mostly along the edges of rim, scattered losses and worn spots to silver including significant losses to the center well around the coat of arms.
