ANTIQUE NEW ENGLAND SILHOUETTE TWO-COLOR EIGHT-TWIST CROWN ART GLASS PAPERWEIGHT, central Rabbit silhouette cane with alternating opal filigree twists and red and yellow opaque twists, each reaching from the central cane to the base of the polished pontil mark. New England Glass Co. Fourth quarter 19th century. 1 7/8" H, 2 1/4" D.
Literature: Parallels Hawley - The Art of the Paperweight: Boston & Sandwich and New England Glass Companies, p. 189, fig. 9.36.
Catalogue Note: Hawley states, "On occasion, the lucky collector finds a crown weight with a central silhouette cane..." Silhouette canes are rare in New England crown weights.
