Description
Here is a nice 4 gallon piece of early Ohio stoneware. The piece is marked I.M. Mead, the mark of Ira Mead. Mead is one of Ohio's earliest potters working in Portage County, Ohio from 1830-1850. The piece is in very good overall condition with no apparent hairlines or cracks. Does have a small chip to rim, and a shallow chip to top rim of rim which appears to date to the initial firing. The jar measures 13.5Ó tall x 10 inches wide.
